Settling In, and A Look Back at Thanksgiving

Happy Wednesday, friends! This week has been a whirlwind as we’ve finally made the big move into our new house. You know that mix of excitement and exhaustion that comes with unpacking box after box? That’s exactly where we’re at. Every day feels like an endless to-do list, but slowly, the chaos is giving way to cozy corners and little glimpses of what will soon feel like home. I can’t wait to share more once everything is a bit more polished, but for now, I thought I’d rewind and take you back to Thanksgiving—a moment of calm and beauty before the moving madness began.

Thanksgiving Without the Stress

Holidays can often feel like a marathon. Between cooking, entertaining, and keeping everyone comfortable, it’s easy for the day to turn hectic. But this year, something magical happened—everything just clicked. The food was perfect, the atmosphere felt warm and effortless, and the day unfolded with none of the usual frenzy. It was one of those rare holidays where you’re able to simply savor being together.

Maybe it’s because we kept things simple, or maybe we just got lucky, but it truly felt like the calmest Thanksgiving we’ve ever had. Looking back, I realize those are the moments I treasure most—the quiet laughter, the relaxed conversations, and of course, the beauty of the table that brought it all together.

Inspired by My Mom’s Decor

A huge part of what made the day so special was my mom’s incredible eye for decor. She’s been experimenting lately with her home, and it shows. Every corner felt thoughtful and welcoming, with just the right touches of warmth and elegance. I couldn’t resist snapping photos, because it was honestly too pretty not to document.

Her approach is never about going over the top; it’s about layering small details that add up to something really stunning. Soft candles, natural textures, little pops of seasonal color—it all worked together in a way that made the house feel festive without feeling fussy.

I’ve had a few readers ask about her style before, and I totally get why. She has this innate ability to create spaces that feel both lived-in and inspiring, the kind of home you walk into and immediately feel comfortable. Spending Thanksgiving in that environment made the day even more memorable.

Why These Moments Matter

As we’ve been unpacking in our new place, I’ve been thinking a lot about the importance of home. It’s not just about the walls or the furniture—it’s about the way a space makes you feel. That’s what my mom’s Thanksgiving table reminded me of: home isn’t perfect, but it’s a reflection of the love and care poured into it.

I think that’s why I was so drawn to share this with you now, even weeks later. In the middle of the moving chaos, it feels grounding to look back at that beautiful, simple holiday and remind myself of what I want to create here. Yes, there are boxes everywhere and a thousand projects to finish, but at the end of the day, I just want our home to feel like that: welcoming, warm, and filled with love.

Looking Ahead

Soon, I’ll be able to share a peek into our new house, and I can’t wait to hear what you think. Until then, I’m carrying the inspiration from Thanksgiving with me as I figure out how to make this new space our own. If there’s one thing I learned from my mom, it’s that little details make all the difference.

For now, I’m embracing the chaos of moving, leaning into the gratitude that started back at Thanksgiving, and holding onto the excitement of creating a home that reflects us. It feels good to pause and appreciate the beauty in between the mess.
